How Loyalty Points Work

How are loyalty points calculated?

In general, loyalty points are awarded based on purchase activity at your venue(s).

An admin can also give a guest loyalty points manually.

By Dollar Amount

The default method of calculating loyalty points is based on the dollar amount of the tickets purchased. If your Call Connect system has an integration with your food Point of Sale, food and beverage purchases can also be included in the loyalty point calculation.

The Engage system is configured with a multiplier that is used to convert dollars spent into points. For example, if the multiplier is 10, then for each dollar spent, 10 points are granted.

In addition to the overall multiplier for purchases, various "categories" can be configured, each with its own additional multiplier. Purchases that are associated with that category will then have this additional multiplier applied when calculating points. The categories for food and beverage purchases need to be aligned with any categories in your food POS.

For example, if the food category of Special is configured with a multiplier of 2, and the general multiplier is 10, then for each dollar spent on food in the Special category, 20 points would be awarded.

By Ticket Count

Instead of awarding points based on the dollar amount of purchases, loyalty points can be awarded based solely on the number of tickets purchased. Each ticket purchased would grant a single point.

Conversion to Stored Value

The Engage system can also be configured to convert loyalty points earned into "stored value", which can later be used to purchase offers.

When the Engage system is configured this way, there is an additional conversion factor applied to the dollars spent and loyalty points earned in order to convert the points into stored value. This second conversion factor is applied after the dollars spent are converted into loyalty points.

For example, if the multiplier for the dollars spent is 1 and the stored value conversion factor is 0.1, then for every dollar a guest spends, they will earn $0.10 in "stored value".

When are loyalty points awarded?

Loyalty points are awarded at the close of business day, usually 4am local time of the following day, and they are only awarded for ticket, and associated food, purchases for showings on that business day.

For example, if a guest has tickets purchased for a showing today and some for a showing next week, only the ticket purchases for today will count towards the loyalty balance when the end of day reconciliation is done.

Any refunds for ticket purchases will remove those tickets from being counted as part of a guest's loyalty points.

If an admin gives loyalty points to a guest, those points are awarded immediately.

Earning Rewards

The Engage system can be configured with multiple loyalty levels so that a guest can be given a reward for levelling up and reaching a new loyalty level.

The reward for reaching a new loyalty level is usually one or more vouchers. It can also include bonus loyalty points for the user.

When loyalty points are awarded to a guest, either at the end of day reconciliation or immediately after being given them by an admin, the guest's point balance is updated, and they are given any awards associated with the new level(s) they have reached. Depending on the number of points awarded, a guest may cross multiple loyalty levels at once.
